Companion Animal Services in Spokane
At Mt. Spokane we offer progressive and quality care to all our patients, from a prized show dog to a family pet hamster. You can feel that your pet is in the best of hands during its stay at our hospital.
Wellness and Preventative Care
We believe in developing a wellness plan for your pet that is individualized to your pets needs. We can determine the best vaccine protocol, parasite prevention plan, nutritional needs, and supplements that would best suit your pet. Older pets may benefit from annual blood screening or urinalysis testing. A fecal analysis is always recommended as the best way to ensure your pet is parasite free. We also offer puppy and kitten packages to see your new family member through their initial vaccinations, microchipping and surgical spay or neuter at reduced charge as part of the package.
We know that things can change quickly and you may need to get your pet in as soon as possible. We will always try to see you as soon as we can, and a drop off appointment is always an option.
We take pride in providing the best in dental care for your pet. Your pet will initially be examined by a doctor and technician together to determine the best treatment plan for your pet. Pre-anesthetic blood work will be run if indicated, and a technician will be dedicated to your pet during its stay. State of the art veterinary monitoring equipment is utilized while your pet is under general anesthesia. The patient will receive a thorough dental cleaning and examination followed by polishing and fluoride treatment.
Mt Spokane Veterinary Hospital provides full surgical capabilities- whether it be a routine spay or neuter of any pet, or a more complicated soft tissue or orthopedic surgery. We also work with local specialists to provide the best surgical experience available for your pet.
We offer a full in-house laboratory so that test results are rapidly available for your pet. We may use diagnostic ultrasound as an additional diagnostic step. We have digital radiography so results are instantaneous and the best image and diagnostic quality may be obtained. Endoscopy is also available and used for investigation of various respiratory and digestive issues. We work closely with internal medicine and radiology specialists to provide precise information for your pet.
Our goal is for you to have a great bond with your pet. If there are behavioral needs we will work diligently for success in resolving and managing these problems. We work with a behaviorist at Washington State University when needed for advanced cases.
Every pet has unique nutritional needs. Unfortunately, much of the available information on the internet about your pets needs can be conflicting. We have staff that are specifically trained to understand your pets breed and its nutritional needs at different life stages. Nutritional needs that are specific to disease processes are also important. We carry many specific prescription diets and supplements that can be helpful and necessary for your pet.
Our staff is very experienced in handling all exotic species from reptiles, to birds, pocket pets, fish, poultry and amphibians. Our doctors have a special interest in exotic patients as well as years of combined experience in caring for these exotic pets. We know that anesthetic needs, nutritional needs, and medicinal needs are very different than traditional dogs and cats and we are experienced and ready to meet these needs.
At Mt. Spokane Veterinary Hospital we provide reproductive services to our canine patients including progesterone timing for artificial insemination, collection of semen, parturition timing, infertility testing and cesarean sections. We also offer surgical artificial insemination.
End of Life Support
We know how difficult this time can be once the decision has been made to euthanize your pet. We offer this service at your home as a house call, or in the office. We try to make this process as comforting as possible by providing sedation for your pet if needed and a private, quiet place for you and your pet during this time.
